Thank you to Alissa Gjerde, Region 5 RM, South Lane Early Head Start and Head Start staff, Food for Lane County (FFLC-learn more about the mobile pantry here), and South Lane School District for helping us bring  the mobile food pantry to all South Lane Community members! Thank you to the Health Team, FSC Team and the Consultants who spent many hours collaborating with the co-partners to keep all the pieces and parts moving forward.

This is an outgrowth of our Pantry Plus Partnerships Program– which will continue long after (one day..one day) the pandemic is behind us. We are doing this collaborative work with FFLC in addition to our P2 partnership and our internal pantry programs at Whiteaker and Oakridge in the hopes of being able to serve even more families more efficiently- without duplicating one another’s efforts– and requiring less transport of food boxes to families who can make it to a pantry location.

All of the programs will continue to benefit from Volunteer support….as we know, many hands make light work.

The goal is that we will utilize FFLC mobile distribution sites wherever we feasibly can so that families can access them at those larger sites (or co-located in school districts) when they are able to come to those locations to make their own selections of the foods their family needs.

On our first day, we served 67 households! FFLC said this was the biggest number of households they have had show up at a first time event!!!!

We will continue to be here the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, 11:00-1:00. The program is for anyone in the community. Share the news!
