To monitor and collaborate with community child care providers to create a successful environment that will promote the growth and development of Head Start children and families. Maintain ongoing contact with providers, families and work with all other components (health, nutrition, family services, mental health) to integrate educational goals and developmentally appropriate practices into child care settings.
Complete all home visits in the home, unless there is a safety reason, or unsolicited parent request, (per agency benchmarks)
Welcome families into the program and share information about transitioning into Head Start.
Assess family goals and provide recommendation and referral for relevant community resources.
Develop Family Partnership goals.
Assist with Kindergarten transition of child and family out of Head Start
Provide crisis intervention as needed.
Maintain minimum monthly contacts i.e.: phone calls, group activity or sit visits to promote partnership and provide for regular communication.
Monitor progress on Family Partnership goals.
Promote family literacy.
Prepare and distribute follow-up containing pertinent information requested by the family in a timely manner.
Work flexible hours to meet the needs of the family.
Parent Involvement & Community Partnerships
Plan and facilitate parent orientation to the program
Coordinate parent meeting with the CCC staff to assist parents to take leadership roles.
Actively encourage parents to participate in the program i.e. Parent meetings, webbing, field trips, policy council, and classroom help.
Provide content for regular parent newsletters, memos and flyers as needed.
Work with parents to establish and maintain regular attendance for their child.
Advocate and collaborate to support child, family, and agency outcomes.
Meet regularly with staff and with parents regarding each child’s status and progress.
Conduct the required parent/teacher conferences and home visits for the purpose of assessment and support, to share information on classroom progress and educational strategies at school and at home.
Work with appropriate agencies in developing specialized planning for children and families as needed.
Child Development and Disabilities Services (40%)

Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings to plan for and deliver collaborative services across all components.
Respond appropriately to a crisis or emergency that may occur.
Assess individual and group needs, attending to special needs specific interest, strengths and concerns.
Adapt curriculum to address and meet individual goals for children as identified in their individualized education plans.
Curriculum and Assessment
Develop and utilize balanced curriculum plans, which reflect mandate elements, parental and cultural influences, and promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of Head Start children
Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice making: ask open ended questions and listens respectfully to the answers.
Establish weekly goals that promote individual and group educational plans and include other Head Start components.
Prepare classroom materials to support developmentally appropriate curriculum plans; create and change learning centers as needed.
Utilizes Information systems to support child/family and agency outcomes
Document and track follow-up needs, Family Partnership goals, health, dental, nutrition, hearing and vision concerns.
Document baselines, ongoing assessments in Galileo according to agency benchmarks.
Document all significant classroom issues, parent contact and home visits in WebCAF.
Monitor and report child abuse
Monitoring, Coaching & Training of Providers
Monitor child care sites for compliance with Head Start Performance Standards
Coach child care staff in developmentally appropriate practices
Work with child care staff to coordinate special needs staff in the classroom and develop a collaborative approach that benefits all children in the classroom and meets the needs as specified on the individualizing plan.
Coordinate with child care staff to provide an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement in the classroom.
Support child care staff to follow a consistent schedule, which includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development, meals and effective transitions between activities.
Develop and implement training for child care staff.

Assure general maintenance and inventory for equipment and supplies for the lending library
All communications are potentially sensitive and are subject to Head Start’s policy on confidentiality.
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre K) or a related Bachelor’s Degree or higher that includes coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education (minimum 30 quarter credits, ECE focus) or have current Oregon Teacher License that includes Pre-K/ECE endorsement. Transcripts are required to validate educational requirements.
Position requires a combination of a least two years experience combining pre-school teaching, community collaborations, family services – crisis intervention & self help. Supervisory skills in an educational setting and adult training/education desired.
Demonstrated ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of all children including at risk, special needs, gifted, and culturally diverse populations and convey this information to community providers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially good listening skills.
Working knowledge of available community resources and Head Start program components and ability to educate and supervise community child care providers in implementation of such.
Must have a valid Oregon Driver’s License and proof of insurance and have access to transportation for home and provider visits.
Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification and current Food Handler’s Card required within 30 days of employment.
Must be currently enrolled in the Child Care Division – Central Background Registry.
