We did a short ice-breaker where questions were poised – I sat at a table where the question was “what book, video, movie” have you seen recently?” This lead to conversations about not having time to read a book, or see a movie. Then a mom told a story about her child (age four or five) being mad at her. He made a paper airplane, wrote a note on it, and flew the plane down the hall, telling his mom “I wrote you a note, go read it.” She opened the plane and he had written “I hate my mom.” She wrote a message back and flew the plane back to him – her message said “Wow, you have great handwriting and I love you.” Who wants that mom in their classroom as a volunteer?!
We elected the two year state parent representative – congrats to J. Jackson from U of O. He and Joshua Gillock will represent our parents at the state meetings. K. Mathews from Fairfield is the alternate.
Next month is elections for executive officers. We will meet Tuesday November 12 from 6-9 at Whiteaker.
