Chava says…This was my first time working Fishing Day and it was a blast! Although I needed to leave early for personal reasons, I would have been happy to paint another 100 faces. I didn’t have a clue as to how to paint, but they say practice makes (almost) perfect. Though I won’t quit my day job to become a free lance face painter, the smiles when the children saw their face in the mirror: priceless. Thanks to Lisa B –a true artist–and Mycena who stepped in for me, and to the community volunteer–don’t remember her name–who is a tattoo artist and did know what she was doing!

What a terrific Saturday of Head Start fishing and fun. A wonderful turn out, I don’t know the head count, I just know over 400 lunches were served, that the banks were filled with fishing families, the activities tables were filled and games were non stop. I know that smiles were boundless and laughter rang through the park. I know that I had a terrific time. I hope you did too. Share your experiences too!

A big thank you to all who helped make memories for many families.
The facilities crew – Les and Mark – a big high five and thank yous for the work and time you give with smiles.

Ruthie B and her crew – a pirate of pirate’s with a song and dance for all to enjoy.

Policy Council crew – for supporting the event with their own table, securing donations for the raffle, for stepping in as needed, where needed and for bringing their families.

Kerry H., Tricia R., and her two girls – friendly faces, cheers and can do attitudes. Thank you for selling raffle tickets and giving away the goodies bags.

Lunch crew – a long line of families who waited to be fed a healthy lunch. Kids drank their milk and proudly showed off their milk mustaches and others shared watermelon ring smiles.

Bus drivers – though your bus wasn’t full you made a day possible for those who needed it!

Activity Booths – face painters, water tattoos, fishing for prizes, spin the wheel, tag, bean bag toss, hole in one. All of these were possible because of Chava K., Sheri B and family, Mycena and son, Lisa B., Patrick and who else..so many I can’t remember!

Albertine – for making this an annual event that gets families outside and active!
