Pinwheels for Prevention is a nationwide public awareness campaign created by Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA) and its state chapters. The theme for 2017 is “It Takes a Village – Support a Parent” is a call to action to see, support, and listen to parents to:
~ Decrease feelings of isolation.
~ Offer babysitting to help a parent get a break or catch up on chores or “to do” lists.
~ Offer to transport child to and from school, activities, play dates.
~ Check in on sick co-workers- do they need something?
~ Offer to carry a bag, open a door to a stressed out shopping parent – it only takes a moment to make a difference- be that moment!
~ Listen. Just let a parent vent and do not judge.
~ Forgive. Sometimes things come up. Be forgiving.
