Staff and students begin a new school year in a brand-new building! Some families chose to follow their teachers from their previous sites while other students were brand new to the school and to Head Start. Welcome to the Springfield High Classroom, a collaboration classroom with EC CARES.

This month students explored the building, and the playground and met teachers and other students. This month was really about getting to know each other, learning to trust each other, and learning about school.

Families had an orientation night. They learned about the incredible services Head Start has to offer: health screenings, developmental screenings, the SEEKERS Program, Interpretation services, and family support for the whole family not just the students. Families enjoyed a snack, talked with other families, and explored the classroom. Teachers also had a chance to see former students too!

A month into the school year we have already been gardeners and scientists. We explored new foods and comfort foods. We have been introduced to music with the Popcorn song being a class favorite and read books like “Pete the Cat” and “We are a Family”.

We know that teamwork is how we will succeed for both children and families!
