“I had an unpleasant situation today in my class. A 3 year old choked on an apple slice. I turned to see his face, bright red/purple, and he seemed to be gagging, with no sound. I immediately started back blows ( he is a very small child) on the 3rd blow, he began to cough and vomit out the food, milk, and saliva. He stated that he was, “ok, but that was scary.” I gave him some water, and called his mom, and my RM. Mom came to pick him up due to it being scary, she thanked me, and later sent a thank you email. It happened quickly and was very scary.”
Val, Terri, and Marci just want to say to Jen Judd, “Yes you did the exact right thing!” It was a scary situation and Jen handled it just as we would hope our wonderful teaching staff would do.
Many thanks to Jen for her quick response and a big shout out for first aid training!
