Policy Council meets monthly, the second Tuesday of the month to discuss business matters. The 2018-2019 Council is seated until November 2019 when the newly elected members will take over for the 2019-2020 year. Business included:
~ Approval of the OSEA/HS Labor contract. This moves to the Board of Directors on September 17 for review/approval.
~ Discussion and suggested revisions to a new policy “parent code of conduct.” The revisions will go through legal review then back to PC for final approval. This policy was developed because of poor adult behavior on Head Start grounds. The message is HSOLC is a safe place for children / staff/ parents, and the neighborhood.
~ Two job descriptions were approved.
~ Policy Council will try to host “Parent chat” days to connect with other HS parents. The first will be Thursday October 10 at Whiteaker frorm 11:30-1:00 in the cafeteria. All HS parents are invited. The topic is “what is Policy Council?”
The next meeting will be Tuesday October 8 followed by the training for new members on Thursday October 24. Remember to send in PC names to Sami Allen, sallen@hsolc.org so welcome letters can be sent.
