The Policy Council training was held last Thursday. These parents are our new parent leaders who are informed, asked for input and make decisions as part of the governance system including the Board of Directors, management and Policy Council.

These events and trainings take many hands to make it success:
Technology support came from Rusty – he took the extra time to make sure all systems were on and working properly. Next month maybe Florence will Skype in and again IT will make sure it works at both ends.

Family Service Coordinators – they are the link to the classroom, a familiar face and a future resource if needed. It was great to see the individual connections along with table dynamics that the FSC’s offered as the training progressed.

Interperter / Outreach Manager Gabriela attended and stayed even though the parent is bilingual. It’s new information for the parent and Gabriela stayed to make the her feel more comfortable.

The Operations Specialist, Melisa Weekly was the key note speaker. Melisa is a former HS parent and Policy Council member.  She spoke about how Head Start brings a whole new world of possibilities and how HSOLC has changed her life from then to now.

The Executive Director, Annie Soto brings in all together to paint the big picture and how parent involvement and engagement begins now and forever, that this is the time to take advantage of all Head Start has to offer. It might be a life changing event.

Food Service was given by Katelyn. It smelled like a home cooked meal was waiting for us. Next month it’s taco soup! We so appreciate the meals we have.

Karla Snell, my co-partner. We meet up, do what needs done, clean up, clear out and give each a high five for a job well done.

Thank you all for making this one night a success.
