Infants and toddlers learn best in environments where they have trusting relationships with caring and responsive adults, where they feel safe, comfortable, and welcome to explore and learn. Adults in children's lives nurture these early roots of relationship through co-regulation, supporting the child's developing self-regulation, and serve-and return interactions.
