The purpose of Harvest for Healthy Kids is to promote healthy eating habits among young children through repeated exposure to locally grown fruits and vegetables. The program was developed in partnership with Mt. Hood Community College Head Start and Early Head Start.
Trainings are 1.5 to 2 hours long and are conducted by experienced early care and education professionals who helped to develop Harvest for Healthy Kids. The curriculum is available for FREE download online at http://www.harvestforhealthykids.org. Thanks to Juan Young Trust, each training participant will receive a Harvest for Healthy Kids starter kit including a tote bag with laminated picture cards, a read-aloud book, and a printed activity kit, all related to a specific fruit or vegetable. Training certificates will also be provided.
This opportunity is available to early care and education professionals until October 31, 2016.
Please speak with Mary Groesbeck (mgroesbeck@hsolc.org) and your supervisor if you are interested in attending this training. For more information about the training or curriculum, please contact Betty Izumi at izumibet@pdx.edu or Andrea Baron at baron2@pdx.edu.
