Amy told the kids all about Casey: where he sleeps, what tricks he can do, and what sorts of uniforms he wears. She talked about what clothing firefighters wear, what equipment they use, and what we should do if a smoke detector goes off. She held up the detector, and one of the students said, “That’s a smoke detector!” Amy explained that when they hear a smoke detector, they “Get out, and Stay Out!” When asked what a firefighter’s tank connects to, a child said, “There’s a mask so they can breath.”
Two kids from both the morning and afternoon classes were able to put on child-size firefighting uniforms. The kids waited patiently, and were called up two by two to pet Casey. He surprised a few of them with ‘sneaky smooches’, and everyone was given a sticker and a trading card with Casey’s picture on it.
