Seven members attended the October meeting. Thank you to these outgoing members whose term runs to November.

The Council learned that the Senate and House voted to approve continuing resolution – this vote goes to the President for final approval. If approved Head Start funding will remain status quo.

There are two State Race to the Top proposals being considered. One proposal has Oregon Prekindergarten/HS funded the same for 2015-2017. The second proposal has a $30 million expansion for Oregon PreK/HS.

The 2013-2014 outcomes report was shared. The report indicates gains were made in ten of the 11 domains. The behavior reports indicate the most common outburst is physical aggression during transition times. CLASS scores have also increased over the years – the goal is to have a score of six:
~ Emotional support: 6.04!
~ Classroom organization: 5.43
~ Instructional support: 3.24

Business includes the approval of a revised finance policy: Electronic Requisition and Payment and the approval of the labor contract. Hire recommendations and re-classifications were also approved.

New members are to attend the training next week, Thursday October 23 at Whiteaker from 6pm-9pm. If you have not submitted Council member contact info to Sami Allen please do so ASAP.

The November meeting date moves to a Wednesday, November 12 due to the holiday (Veterans’ Day) falling on the regularly scheduled meeting night.
