We started with a ice-breaker to reacquaint ourselves – what did I learn from this – many people were born out of the State and Gwyn can count in three languages. A table top activity on strategic directions has reoccurring themes: transportation, technology use and parent education – parents want more of. One innovating idea was to connect HS to vocational schooling with the eligibility criteria being that the child has to be enrolled in HS/EHS. What a forward thinking process of tying child and parent education together while building employable skills and hopefully breaking the poverty cycle. Way to go Policy Council!
Elections were held for ERSEA and Curriculum Committee. What great engagement opportunities these parents are providing us – take advantage of it and say congrats to:

Hire recommendations were approved and two community reps were elected to the Council. Updated Early Head Start job descriptions were also approved.
Next month, revised financial policies will be reviewed for approval. The February meeting is Tuesday February 11, 6-9pm at Whiteaker.
