SEEKERS meet every Wednesday at Brattain for training. This Wednesday the Bus Monitor training was given. We learned several things – the most important being it is not okay to do nothing when it comes to the safety of children. We are to stay alert, observant, aware, and anticipate possibilities.

Common sense may not be so common in some people so we have to work as team members to get the job done. Did you know:

~ If the child gets to the bus – the child gets on the bus.

~ No driver is to leave the driver seat without pulling the keys from the ignition.

~ Dead Zones are preventable zones. Never walk away towards the back of the bus. A child could lose something that lands by the rear wheels and the driver does not know. If need be, drivers are to ask parents to wait for the bus to leave before the parent/child walks home. Crossing the street and other drivers are scary. We have seen the accidents / near misses in the news – let’s not be one!

~ Drivers are not allowed to back up. Drivers having to be trained to back up the bus is a success story

~ Monitors are to buckle up too. No Missile projectiles – not you, child, water bottle….buckle up and keep things secure.
