We are asked to help spread the word…

Center for Prevention of Abuse and Neglect is launching a youth focus groups within Lane County and need our help to help get the word out! As we work to make Lane County the best place for kids to grow up, they want to hear about the community from the youth perspective to learn how to prevent child maltreatment.

They will be hosting 11 focus groups for teens – In person in Oakridge, Junction City, Springfield, Florence, and Cottage Grove, and virtual identity-based focus groups for Indigenous, Black, Latine (in English and Spanish), LGBTQ+, and Asian American/Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American teens. Though they will not be asking youth to share any specifics about their own negative experiences, they especially want to hear from youth that may have experienced more barriers than others.

All youth, age 14-19 are welcome to participate and will receive $37.50 for 1.5 hours of their time. They can provide informational interviews if transportation or technology access is an issue and someone still wants to participate.

Please note that this Wednesday (10/25 at 4:00-5:30 pm) we will have our Eugene/Springfield focus group at Springfield Public Library and this Thursday (10/26 at 4:00-5:30 pm) we will have our North Lane focus group at the Junction City Community Center. We are hoping to increase our turn out for these so please help us get the word out in particular for these upcoming events. While we encourage youth to RSVP beforehand we can also accommodate drops ins.
