Policy

Parents are trained and encouraged to take an active part in the conduct of policy group meetings.

Procedure

  1. Parents in Head Start are informed of the structure of policy groups and are invited to attend Policy Council meetings and training.
  2. Policy Council representatives have the opportunity to be trained in shared decision making, the Brown Act, Robert’s Rules of Order, roles and responsibilities, and other topics of interest that support the roles and responsibilities of Policy Council and/or parent-child development.
  3. Notes on such training activities are maintained and kept by the Executive Administrative Assistant or the Family Services Consultant.

This policy complies with Head Start Performance Standard 45 CFR Section 1301.5
