Policy

School Food Service Sanitation requires that only Head Start Personnel with Approved Food Handlers Cards are allowed in the kitchen on a regular basis.

Procedure

  1. The site or main kitchen area is not used as a traffic-way or meeting room.
  2. Visitors and staff other than food service staff are not allowed in the site or main kitchen on a regular basis. Tours must be scheduled in advance with Food Service Manager or Food Service Assistant.
  3. Children may only be in the kitchen if they are accompanied by an adult Child must be wearing shoes.
  4. Requests for Classroom tours by staff person may be requested on a supply order request form sent to Region Manager for approval and then sent to the main kitchen.

This policy complies with Head Start Performance Standard 45CFR Section 1304.23.
It was approved by Policy Council on October 14, 1997.
